YOUR MONTH AT A GLANCE

Room in your plan

$400.00

This is the amount still unassigned. You can leave a buffer or give it a purpose.

Take-home income$3,200.00
Essentials$2,050.00
All planned spending & saving$2,800.00

Income − all planned expenses − savings = remaining. Savings are an allocation, not an expense. This is a planning estimate, not a bank balance.

Start with money you can count on.

Use take-home income after deductions. If your pay varies, start with an amount you can reasonably expect and revisit your plan when the money arrives. Include minimum debt payments among essentials and plan separately for irregular costs.

For a worked example that follows your pay dates, read our biweekly budgeting guide. To prepare for upcoming annual costs, explore sinking funds.
